Puppetry at the Shoreditch Festival

Saturday 21 July at the Shoreditch Festival (an ongoing collaboration between the Shoreditch Trust and the Barbican) has a host of free puppetry on offer. Get down to De Beauvoir Gardens for a rolling programme of events that includes one-on-one intimate sock puppet theatre, a dancing sea monster, a giant kaleidoscope and poetic boat trips.

We’re especially intrigued by Kissing the Gunner’s Daughter, an installation promising object animation, light-and-shadow theatre and puppetry, all within the barnacle encrusted confines of a bathing booth. It’s a Grist of the Mill creation, which had its well received first outing at the Brighton Festival back in May.
